ECCC - Chaplain Application and Selection Process

The International Network of Alliance Ministries is committed to maintaining high standards in the selection and credentialing of chaplains who serve within the INAMI Emergency Crisis Chaplain Corps.
The application and selection process is designed to ensure that individuals seeking chaplain credentials demonstrate spiritual maturity, ethical integrity, and a genuine calling to provide compassionate spiritual care and pastoral support.
All applicants are evaluated according to the ministry’s training standards, ethical expectations, and readiness for chaplaincy service.
Eligibility RequirementsApplicants seeking chaplain credentials must meet the following basic requirements:
• Demonstrate a commitment to faith-based ministry and spiritual care
• Be in good standing with their local church, ministry, or faith community
• Exhibit moral integrity and responsible personal conduct
• Possess a sincere calling to serve individuals and communities through pastoral care
• Be willing to adhere to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct of the INAMI Emergency Crisis Chaplain Corps
Additional educational or ministry training requirements may apply depending on the level of chaplain certification being requested.
Application Submission
Individuals interested in becoming a chaplain with the INAMI Emergency Crisis Chaplain Corps must complete an official application and submit the required documentation.
The application process may include:
• Completion of the chaplain application form
• Submission of personal ministry background information
• Agreement to the chaplain code of ethics and ministry policies
• Verification of ministry training or education (when applicable)
Applicants may also be required to provide references or ministry endorsements as part of the review process.
Training and Preparation
Applicants accepted into the chaplain training program must complete the required chaplain training curriculum before receiving credential recognition. Training may include instruction in the following areas:
• Foundations of Chaplaincy Ministry
• Pastoral Care and Spiritual Support
• Crisis Ministry and Emotional Support
• Grief and Bereavement Care
• Ethics in Chaplaincy Ministry
• Institutional Chaplaincy Practices
• Trauma-Informed Spiritual Care
Successful completion of training demonstrates that the applicant has acquired the knowledge and skills necessary to provide responsible pastoral care.
Application Review
Once the application and required training are completed, the applicant’s materials are reviewed by the chaplain leadership or credentialing committee of the International Network of Alliance Ministries.
The review process may consider the following factors:
• Completion of required training
• Demonstration of ethical character and spiritual maturity
• Alignment with the mission and values of the ministry
• Readiness to serve in pastoral care environments
Approval of chaplain credentials is granted at the discretion of the ecclesiastical authority of the ministry.
Issuance of Chaplain Credentials
Applicants who successfully complete the training and approval process may be issued official chaplain credentials.
Each credentialed chaplain receives:
• Chaplain Credential ID
• Chaplain Identification Badge
• Ecclesiastical Endorsement
• Listing in the Official Chaplain Credential Registry
These credentials confirm that the individual has been recognized by the International Network of Alliance Ministries as an authorized chaplain within the Emergency Crisis Chaplain Corps.
Credential Maintenance
Chaplains must maintain their credentials in good standing by adhering to the ethical standards and policies of the ministry.
Credential maintenance may include:
• Periodic credential renewal
• Continued participation in ministry development and training
• Compliance with the Chaplain Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct
Failure to maintain ethical standards or ministry responsibilities may result in suspension or revocation of chaplain credentials.
Ecclesiastical Authority Statement
Chaplain credentials issued by the International Network of Alliance Ministries represent ecclesiastical recognition within a faith-based ministry organization. These credentials authorize the holder to provide pastoral care and spiritual support within the scope of chaplaincy ministry. Chaplain credentials issued by this ministry do not constitute governmental authority, law enforcement authority, or professional licensure regulated by civil authorities.
